Teamwork - Ocarina of Rhyme

(2009)
Alright this one is Ridiculous. Team Teamwork put rappers over Zelda: Ocarina of Time Songs and It is hilarious. The Rapper List includes:Jay-Z, Clispe, MF D00M, Common, Aesop Rock, Slim Thug, and Mike Jone. The most notable track Is Still Tippin mixed over Great Fairy's Fountain. Aesop Rock's No Jumper Cables is mixed perfect over the Goron City. This album makes you want to play Zelda and laugh hysterically the first time when you here it.
You can download it from their website teamteamwork.bandcamp.com
Bottom Line 6/10 Charles Clark musician/Producer

Mos Def - The Ecstatic

(2009)

This one was hard for me to decide what to give it.You see I respect Mos Def but this album is Mediocre. When I bought it I was hoping for some kind of new wave of hip hop that would help fight the awful radio rap invasion, but it turned out to sound like a carbon copy of his other work. I guess you do what works huh? I would think with so much publicity, money, and talent he could make a awesome album. He does Rap in Spanish in No Hay Nada Mas and The track Life in Marvelous Times is the track if there is one. Anyway If you are a Mos Def fan pick it up you will dig it. If you are looking for a new hip hop sound don't.
Bottom Line 6.5/10 Charles Clark Musician/Producer

Pharcyde - Humboldt Beginnings

(2004)

If you are a fan of A tribe Called Quest check this Hip Hop crew out. I First heard them back in the early nineties with the radio hit Passing me by. I didn't know they were still rapping until a friend of mine hooked me up with this album. Apparently this is the last Pharcyde album to be released, due to lack of Publicity. However they seem to still be touring because they were present at Austin's Fun Fun Fest. Anyway Pharcyde Puts The old school Rhyme style over break beats to give you that classic Hip-Hop feel. The Themes of the album seem to be about the struggle of life and Smoking weed all day. There is a few solid tracks like Knew you, Mixed Greens, and Rules and Regulations. The Opening Track Homegrown Is Hilarious and So is The Climb/Paranoia. I wouldn't put this in the underground rap category but if you are a hip hop enthusiast you can appreciate this crew.
BOTTOM LINE : 7/10 Charles Clark- Musician/Producer
